 Gates FX1/Z1 Options and AccessoriesThe Gates FX1/Z1 housing has an entire array of options and accessories available. Several port options, optional controls, and external monitors, just to name a few, can make this a professionals dream. Below, you will find details on all of the options and accessories available for the FX1/Z1. Feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have. Ports There are currently three port options available for the Gates FX1/Z1 underwater video housing, the Gates Standard and Flat Ports and the Fathom Imaging Super Wide Angle Port. Below, you'll find detailed information on each of the these ports, as well as the spec sheet for the Super Wide Angle Port, which can be downloaded for future reference. Gates Ports
FP44 Flat Port - this port contain a single, flat, uncorrected element. The field of view becomes narrowed underwater, subject to the same refraction as a diver looking through a facemask. A Flat Port allows full camera zoom capability, and diopters may be used to increase the magnification of a macro subject. +1, +2 and +4 are commonly used, and available from Gates as an accessory kit. This Flat Port contains a single optical acrylic element that is forgiving to minor bumps and handling, and it is field replaceable.

SP44 Standard Port (sometimes called a dome port) - This port is optically corrected to provide a normalized view of the underwater world. That is, it compensates for distortions or magnifications inherent to the underwater realm so the camera view below water is almost exactly that above water. This port is made of optical polycarbonate and allows little or no zoom-through capability. This port is also available with an anti-reflective glass dome.
This Port is only recommended as a budget option, or for use with third party lenses such as the Century Optics anamorphic converter. most distinguished member of the Gates line of premium underwater optics. Another 'no compromises' lens, it enables the clearest, sharpest, distortion-free underwater imaging possible – a necessary requisite for any High Definition venture. Performance – with an astounding 120° field of view this port will provide complete scrutiny of a Humpback from mere feet away. Yet the SWP44 includes full zoom through capability for crystal clear tight shots as well as macro of 4.5" / 115mm critters—and everything in between.
Unlike other optics that require diopters, or work only at zoom extremes, the SWP44 is designed for distortion free images throughout the entire zoom range. Fathom ‘Signature’ – is a mark of excellence and signifies precision optical design and construction expertise. It guarantees high resolution optics free of distortions, reflections, vignetting or other image destroyers. HD Essential – High Definition images that are sharp and clear from edge to edge can only be achieved with a Fathom port and Gates housing.
