Gates HC3 Options and AccessoriesThe Gates HC3 underwater video housing, from Gates Underwater Products has been extremely popular. The HC3 housing has a wide variety of options and accessories available. The ports and accessories listed below are compatible with the Gates HC3 underwater housing. Ports Several port options are available for the Gates HC3 underwater video housing, ranging from the budget friendly Gates Standard and Flat Ports to the astounding quality and clarity of the Fathom Imaging Wide Angle and Super Wide Angle Ports. Below, you will find detailed information on each of the HC3 ports, as well as the spec sheet for each port which can be downloaded for future reference. Good news for those of you that are upgrading from an older PC series Gates Housing. The ports that you are currently using may be compatible with this housing. Gates Ports
FP25 Flat Port - this port contains a single, flat, uncorrected element. The field of view becomes narrowed underwater, subject to the same refraction as a diver looking through a facemask. This Flat Port allows full camera zoom capability, and diopters may be used to increase the magnification of a macro subject. +1, +2 and +4 are commonly used, and available from Gates as an accessory kit. This port contains a single optical acrylic element that is forgiving to minor bumps and handling, and it is field replaceable.

FP25 spec sheet (n/a) Pricing: $115 SP25 Standard Port (sometimes called a dome port) - this port is optically corrected to provide a normalized view of the underwater world. That is, it compensates for distortions or magnifications inherent to the underwater realm so the camera view below water is almost exactly that above water. This standard port is made of optical polycarbonate and allows little or no zoom-through capability. The SP25 Standard Port is only recommended as a budget option, or for use with third party lenses such as the Century Optics anamorphic converter. GP25a Gates Wide Angle Port - this port is designed with high-grade optical components in a durable aluminum shell, providing ~70 degree field of view for your wide angle imaging. The GP25A is particularly appealing to remote travelers for its optical polycarbonate dome, which is readily replaced on location. Free of vignetting and usable in both air and water, the GP25A is a fine instrument for underwater imaging.

The WP25 Wide Angle Port is constructed of an aluminum shell and coated BK-7 glass elements to provide the sharpest, clearest underwater images possible. Field of view is approximately 80°. It is designed specifically for underwater use by Fathom Imaging, so it is free of distortion and very high resolution – the ‘Fathom Signature’. The WP 25 is an ideal choice for applications requiring the sharpest, clearest underwater images for TV / DVD productions.
The WP25 is made of BK-7 optical-grade glass and coated with a proprietary anti-reflective coating. It is nitrogen-purged/vacuum-sealed into an aluminum shell. While the front dome element has a hard coating and is protected by a shade, it is not field replaceable, so care must be exercised to avoid contact with sharp objects (like coral). SWP25 Super Wide Angle Port - the SWP25 is one of world's finest underwater optics. It is the result of a partnership with Fathom Imaging to bring distortion-free, high resolution and high performance imaging to Gates housings. High Performance – means the SWP25 grants both 110° wide angle and full zoom-through capability. Never before could big creatures be captured at 110° field of view, then zoom to maximum telephoto and fill the frame with a mere
1.5 inch subject – and everything in between. Further, the SWP25 can be used in both air and water, as well as “split” air/water images. High Resolution Images – that are sharp and clear from edge to edge can only be achieved with a Fathom port and Gates housing.
