The Gates HC7/HC9 underwater housing sports a big 2x3 in (51x76mm) viewfinder window making the camera LCD easy to
see, even from wide viewing angles. This eliminates the need for an external monitor. This, as well as all other Gates housings, integrate very nicely with the new underwater tripod.
 Controls accessed by the housing include On/OFF, Record, Standby, Zoom, Photo, an internal flip filter, and access to the "assign" button. The assign button can be set to control focus, exposure, or white balance shift. An optional control is also available for the Gates HC7, which will allow access to the cameras white balance function located on the lcd screen. If you choose to take advantage of the optional white balance control, a small portion of the lcd window will be blocked to allow for this control to be installed. The optional control is $97.00.
A carry handle is also available which will make general handling of the housing much easier. The Gates HC7 is the perfect travel companion. It's small size allows the housing, lights and ports to all fit within a 1560 Pelican Case.
An optional white balance slate and arm are a great addition to this housing. The slate will attach directly to the housing and will enable you to place the slate directly in front of the housing to allow for white balance adjustments. The slate with ball-joint arm and adapter is $77.00.
 Gates Pak: With a purchase of any Gates Housing, at least one port and lights, you will also receive the Gates Pak Free. The Gates Pak includes a Pelican case (pre-packaged for easy access to all your components), spare o-ring kit, port polishing kit and Gates drying towel. The pak pictured to the right contains, the Gates HC3 housing, (which is the same size as the HC7 housing) SWP25 Super Wide Port, FP25 Flat Port, diopter set and Green Force HID 50 video lights. The lights include two batteries and all mounting hardware.

This standard port, (sometimes called a dome port) is optically corrected to provide a normalized view of the underwater world. That is, it compensates for distortions or magnifications inherent to the underwater realm so the camera view below water is almost exactly that above water. This portis made of optical polycarbonate and allows little or no zoom-through capability.

This port contains a single, flat, uncorrected element. The field of view becomes narrowed underwater, subject to the same refraction as a diver looking through a facemask. This Port allows full camera zoom capability, and diopters may be used to increase the magnification of a macro subject. +1, +2 and +4 are commonly used. A Flat Port contains a single optical acrylic element that is forgiving to minor bumps and handling, and it is field replaceable.

This wide angle port has a tough aluminum shell and a field replaceable optical polycarbonate dome. The field of view is approximately 70°. This port is an ideal choice for extreme use conditions or when field replacement of a damaged dome is necessary. This port can be used in air and water or for air/water split shots.
This port is also guaranteed to be vignette-free, which means no cut-off corners to ruin a great shot. Spec Sheet

This Fathom Imaging wide angle port is constructed of an aluminum shell and coated BK-7 glass elements to provide the sharpest, clearest underwater images possible. Field of view is approximately 70 to 90°.This port isnitrogen-purged / vacuum-sealed. The front dome element has a hard coating and is protected by a shade, it is not field replaceable, so care must be exercised to avoid contact with sharp objects (like coral). Spec Sheet
