Stingray HD |
Light and Motions Stingray HD housing is a great choice, especially for anyone that is just starting with underwater video and wants the capability of upgrading to a new camera without purchasing a new housing also.
The Stingray HD housing is currently compatible with 11 different Sony Camcorders (see full list below) and is built to be forward compatible with many more camcorders to come.
This housing also comes standard with a 3.5" monitor back, which makes framing shots and general shooting much easier.
The Stingray HD housing is made compatible with so many camcorders by designing the camcorders mount plate in several configurations. This means that when camcorders are released, Light and Motion will simply need to design a mount plate, rather than design an all new housing.
Several port/lens options are available. The housing comes standard with the Light and Motion Standard Zoom Port and is also compatible with the Super Wide Angle Port and the Super Macro Port.
Several travel packages are available with the Light and Motion Stingray HD housing. The Stingray HD Pro LED Travel Package and the Stingray HD Halogen Travel Package.

Smart Charging
Charging your underwater video light batteries shouldn’t be a pain. As a matter of fact, the ability to charge your batteries in a safe and time efficient manner is a necessity, particularly if you’re doing multiple dives. Light & Motion’s multi-voltage chargers quickly charge your battery to ensure optimal battery life by not overcharging the cells. Charging is monitored by measuring the change in temperature over the change in time (dT/dt), which is the method recommended by most battery manufacturers. Light & Motion’s fast charger also accepts voltage from 90-260 volts enabling you to charge batteries anywhere in the world. |

Zoom Macro Optics
Included with Light and Motion housings, the standard Zoom Macro optic is anything but standard. From whale sharks to nudibranchs and popcorn shrimp, the Zoom Macro is the optic of choice. All glass, bayonet mounted with double O-rings, and a locking lens release for added security, the Zoom Macro lens provides a 65-70 degree angle of coverage. And because it is Zoom Macro, it also allows for full zoom through to capture the Macro critters in their tiny world. |

Flip Down Color Correction Filter
Video lights are always the best choice when shooting the high end of the color spectrum like reds, oranges and yellows. However, Flip Down Color Correction Filters can be a great solution if you don't have lights. Subject looking a little blue? Simply flip the external lever and your color correction filter slides into place. Light & Motion introduced the flip filter concept back in the early 90's and it has since become the industry standard. Accessible from the exterior of the housing, the internally mounted filter can be engaged or disengaged with a flip of a lever at any time during your dive. |
 |
Easy Load
Light & Motion housings utilize a user friendly camera tray that makes housing set-up a snap. No aligning of levers and dials and finicky camera placement. Simply affix the camera to the tray using the tripod screw, plug in a few cables and slide the tray back into the housing. The tray is self aligning and self locking so that when fully inserted, optical alignment between camera and housing is precise and the camera is locked securely into place. Install the rear plate using Self Locking Rotary Latches and your ready to stride off the boat and capture the underwater world you love. |
 |
Specular Peened Reflectors
Most video lights use a diffuse reflector to produce a hot spot free beam pattern. Some of these lights may be as powerful as 50 watt HID's and they need to be because the diffuse reflector is absorbing half of the lamp's light output. Light & Motion light heads use Specular Peened Reflectors that optimize light transfer and deliver a smooth, even, 85 degree beam pattern with no hot spots. What this means to you is more light per watt and longer burn times without excessively heavy battery packs. |
 |
Self Locking Rotary Latches
Rotating latches are more secure and substantially easier to use than spring loaded clamps. Just rotate the latch and watch the rear plate glide smoothly into place. They provide maximum securtiy that gives you the peace of mind to focus on your passion. The latch is designed in such a way so as to draw the rear plate into the rear of the housing for a precise fit. Once engaged, the sliding lock snaps securely into place. Unlike a spring loaded mechanism, you won't accidently bump the clamp open. |

Smart Grip Handles
Cameras are user friendly and easy to operate above water, but put them in a housing and try to activate them with a series of levers and dials and they become anything but user friendly. Revolutionary Smart Grip Handles put controls where you want them, at your fingertips. Smart Grip Handles use an Infrared signal that transmits right through the housing to talk to the camcorder's infrared receiver just like your remote control talks to your television set. You get full electronic push button control at your fingertips without holes into the housing. Smart Grips are also switchable left to right, giving you redundant control if needed. This also gives you the option of shooting right or left handed. With Smart Grip control, the housing becomes a natural extension of your body enabling you to capture video sequences effortlessly. |
 |
Integrated Lighting
If you want to see the color, you gotta have the light. The ocean is one big, beautiful blue filter. As you descend, the beautiful reds and oranges quickly become muted shades of blue and gray. Most lighting systems are add-ons that tend to be bulky and overweighted. Light & Motion Sunray lights are designed to be a part of the system rather than an add on. Sunray battery pods integrate seamlessly beneath the housing keeping the system streamlined and slightly negative for easy one handed operation. Lights can be controlled from the Smart Grip Handles in 3 output levels for perfect illumination at any time on every dive |

Travel Packages
Bottom line is that packing for a dive trip can be laborious. And, in order to capture good video, you need to have the all the right tools, in the right place. The Light & Motion Travel Package thoughtfully integrates the housing, lighting system, and all your accessories in one convenient, dive ready case. Once at your location, pop open the case and your complete system is ready to go in a snap. No fumbling around looking for accessory monitors and super wide angle lenses. All that is left for you to do is book the trip, jump on the plane and go. |
